日本のハッカーの皆さん、おはようございます。坂田＠横須賀です。

PostgreSQL 7.5 の機能凍結のアナウンスがありました。

要旨：
	・7月1日をもって、7.5向けの新機能の追加は締め切る。
	・2週間程度で公式βを出す予定
	・9月1日には、公式に7.5をリリースしたい(が間に合わないかもしれない)

以下、原文と対照して(超意)訳をあげておきます。

さて皆さん、今日は7月の1日、長い間ご心配をおかけした、7.5の機能凍結の日です。
機能凍結とは、新しい機能の導入を次の開発サイクルまで延期することを
意味します。ただし、バグ修正、未完成箇所の仕上げ、ドキュメントについては
まだ(追加を)受け入れます。

主要なパッチのいくつかについては、われわれはやっと受け取ったばかりでもあり、
「新機能はナシ」を文字通りには解釈するつもりはありません。
例えば、入れ子トランザクションの構文規則に関しては、まだ議論が続いているので、
7月1日(という期限を)過ぎてしまったからと言って、これに関する変更を却下する
つもりはない、と言うことです。
これが「未完成箇所の仕上げ」という分類に属すると考えているからです。
同じことは、PITRやWindows関連の作業にも当てはまります。

コア・コミッティは、今後2週間以内に、未完成箇所が仕上げられ、ドキュメントが
作成されて、最初の「公式β」が7月15日頃に公開できるものと期待しています。
また、我々が9月1日に公式にリリースするという目標を達成したいと思います
(変更箇所の多さを考えると、この日程をずらさざるを得ないとしても、
さほど驚くことではないのですが)
