　Setoです。

>g4almi:~ postgresql$ /usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl -D /usr/local/pgsql/data -l
>logfile start

このコマンドと

>pg_ctl: Another postmaster may be running.  Trying to start postmaster
>anyway.
>pg_ctl: cannot start postmaster
>Examine the log output.
>g4almi:~ postgresql$ pg_ctl stop

このコマンド 同じ物を実行しようとしているのですよね？

>-su: pg_ctl: command not found

で この結果はオプション云々という問題ではなく
パスが通ったところにコマンドが見つからないときに出るものです。
# 意味をちゃんと理解しようとすればもっと効率が上がりますよ。

>g4almi:~ postgresql$ Pg_ctl stop -W -m fast
>-su: Pg_ctl: command not found
>g4almi:~ postgresql$

>pg_ctlのoptionは下記の記載からすると
>Pg_ctl stop -W -m fast
>でいいと思いますが、間違えているのでしょうか。

停止のときもフルパスで指定してみればとりあえず
止まりはするんじゃないかと思います。

もちろん環境変数を設定するのが王道でですけどね。
