[pgsql-jp: 32395] 7.4.1 + Cygwin で，initdb が "default max_connection" を調べる箇所で固まる

Cold Winter と申します，お世話になります。
皆さまの御知恵を拝借したいことが…。

OS：　Windows 2000 SP-4
Cygwin：　1.5.7
その他：　以前 PostgreSQL 7.2.2 を Cygwin 1.3.20 で動かしていた

…上記のような環境で PostgreSQL 7.4.1 をインストールしたのですが，
ipc-daemon2 を
起動して initdb を行おうとすると，下記のような状態で固まってしまいます。

[nantoka ＠ kantoka ~ (561)]$ /usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb --no-locale -E 
EUC_JP -D/var/pgsql/data
The files belonging to this database system will be owned by user 
"nantoka".
This user must also own the server process.

The database cluster will be initialized with locale C.

fixing permissions on existing directory /var/pgsql/data... ok
creating directory /var/pgsql/data/base... ok
creating directory /var/pgsql/data/global... ok
creating directory /var/pgsql/data/pg_xlog... ok
creating directory /var/pgsql/data/pg_clog... ok
selecting default max_connections... 　　←　ここで固まる

ちなみにコンパイルは，ありきたりの次のようなコマンドを使っています。

$ ./configure --enable-syslog
$ make
$ make install

…どこかに，昔のモジュールが悪さしているようなところがあるのでしょうか…？
