[pgsql-jp: 32951] RedHat 9におけるPostgreSQL 7.4.2 のパフォーマンス

CPU： Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
メモリ：1GB
OS：Debian GNU/Linux 3.0
DB：PostgreSQL 7.4.2

の環境で、

~$ /usr/lib/postgresql/bin/pgbench -h localhost -p 5432 -t 1000 test
starting vacuum...end.
transaction type: TPC-B (sort of)
scaling factor: 1
number of clients: 1
number of transactions per client: 1000
number of transactions actually processed: 1000/1000
tps = 164.668144(including connections establishing)
tps = 164.924786(excluding connections establishing)

と出るのですが、


CPU：Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz x 2
メモリ：2GB
OS：Redhat Linux 9
DB：PostgreSQL 7.4.2

では、

-sh-2.05b$ pgbench -h localhost -p 5432 -t 1000 -U test test
starting vacuum...end.
transaction type: TPC-B (sort of)
scaling factor: 1
number of clients: 1
number of transactions per client: 1000
number of transactions actually processed: 1000/1000
tps = 33.436308 (including connections establishing)
tps = 33.447111 (excluding connections establishing)

となりあまり処理速度がよくないように思えます。
postgresql.conf は、両サーバとも同じ設定にしております。
postmasterのCPU使用率が全然上がっていないようです。
redhat9ではなにか特別な設定が必要なのでしょうか。
