確かに名前が呼びにくいというのはありますね。
少なくとも、ヨーロッパではPostgreSQLが発音しにくいため、ちゃんと呼んでもらえ
ないとか、覚えてもらえないという現場を何度も見ました。
彼らはSQLを「エス・キュー・エル」と発音せず、「シィーキュル」と発音するので、
英語圏に限らず、発音しにくいみたいでした。
(3)や(4)の分け方は日本人には理解できない発想ですが、音で分けると納得できる分
け方だと思います。

それはそれとして。

欧米でPostgreSQLがマイナーなのは名前のせいではなく、別に要因があります。
それらを改善し、ネーミングが普及のネックになっているという状況になってからな
ら、名前の変更もありかもしれません。
が、8.3では時期尚早な感じがします。
